Above, the front "woodland" border. A mixture of the English species of yellow primula (see other pics for detail). In the background the dark blue of Hyacynth and the sky blue of Omphalodes verna. Behind them Helleborus and Spirea "Golden Flame". These are all just outside the front door and give you an uplifting floral welcome as you cross the threshold. All the primulas were grown from just a few packets of seed.
Fritillaria meleagris, the "native" Snake's Head, very easy in moist soil here, in both the purple and white forms. Behind it Aqulegia vulgaris "Woodside", with it's leaves spotted and splashed with yellow. |
