In an English Garden - in July (II)
I grow some of my plants in pots, either because they are tender perennials that I will shelter in the winter, or they don't like the soil here or because they don't just fit with the other plants in the garden.

I love the scent of the pinks (Dianthus), but they don't like the garden (above left), the Lantana (above right) is a reminder of Brazil ( several forms are now available in the UK). The rain daisy (left) is a new favourite.
For some reason all the honeysuckles I bought for the garden have languished over the years. This one was in the garden when I arrived, growing through a double cherry tree. Well the cherry died, the branches cut back, but the honeysuckle prospered. It smells as good as it looks, perfuming the whole garden in the evening.
Left, from Wisley, Astrantia major "Ruby Wedding".

Below, from the shady border an ornamental dead nettle, probably Lamium "Pink Nancy"
Left, finally a reverted seedling from a dwarf Origanum, which is proving very popular with butterflies and bees adding the extra dimension of animation to the garden.
