A lovely sign that spring is on it's way, Primula x juliae is the first primula in flower in my garden. Then my yellow primulas (P. vulgaris, P. veris, P. elatior) start to flower by the front door welcoming all to the new season in soft sun colours. At the same time the wild Primroses (P. vulgaris) start to appear in the hedgerows. See next month's diary for all these species in their full glory! |

Many years ago I think someone threw out their Christmas Hyacynths into the garden. While they will never have as tightly packed flower heads as they did that long ago Christmas, this clump provides a welcome and highly fragrant display every spring. |

The last Hellebore, this one is H.hybridus "Helen Ballard", very vigourous with solid flowers. |
