Another favourite group of plants for the spring, the lungworts, Pulmonaria. These do best in a moist soil in semi shade. The one above is the "normal" type..it's was already growing in the garden when I got here. They vary enormously, sometimes one with a particularly strong colour will turn up, sometimes one with particularly good leaves.
Left, "Blau Meer", a wonderful deep gentian blue with unspotted leaves. |

Right and below, two very similar forms (plus "Sissinghurst White" just peeking into the bottom left hand corner of the one on the right). I really like the pale blue forms, the one at the bottom is "Opal" I think. There are also pink, red and mid blue forms, often appearing from pink buds. Many forms as you can see here have pretty white spotted foliage. |
