In an English Garden - in May (I)

Geranium peloponnesiacumpon is one of the first of my Geraniums in flower, with blue mauve flowers over softly downy leaves. In hot dry summers it dies down and goes semi dormant.

A view of one of the borders in my parents' garden. Theirs is a woodland garden with a poor acid leafmould "soil" over gravel, much appreciated by the japanese azaleas and rhododendrons shown here.

Above left, Geranium himalayense "Gravetye" with large "blue" flowers. Here it flowers twice a year, once in April/May and then again in July/August. Above right, Geranium phaeum "Samobor" a geranium with patterned leaves and dark purple "beaked" flowers. Behind it is a Choiysia bush.
