Orchid Pages - Odontoglossum alliance (I)
This alliance includes the Odontoglossums, Miltonias, and Oncidiums among others.
An unamed Oncidium. For some reason the relatively unfussy flowers of this one reminds me of Calceolarias (also from South America) and now that I have that association in my mind I just can't shake it.
Right, one of my plants and not a particularly good picture. It is Mtdm Avalon Bay "wasp" which I am told is a Miltonia Oncidium cross. The yollow in the flower is quite deep when the flower is fresh, fading to a pale lemon yellow with age. It has the chocolate scent that many of these plants have.
Left, Oncidium sphacelatum at the Orchid House, Wisley.
